What's new in WAsP 12

WAsP 12 contains several new features and significant improvements. The most important new features are:

  • Automatic import of vector maps from the Global Wind Atlas
  • Improved stability model accounts for local atmospheric stability conditions anywhere in the world
  • Forest displacement height assessed in wind flow calculations and applied in wind climate calculations
  • Automatic import of Generalised Wind Climate files from the Global Wind Atlas
  • New geostrophic wind shear model takes into account large-scale horizontal temperature gradients
  • Automatic calculation of site-specific air density for each wind turbine and automatic correction of power curves to estimated air density
  • PARK2 wake model

Other improvements in WAsP 12 are:

  • Capacity Factor results
  • Separate treatment of data layers in vector maps
  • Wake-reduced mean wind speed
  • Map files in the Geography Markup Language
