Map Formats and Suppliers

Q1: Does WAsP only recognize the usual .map format - or does it support also other digital map formats?

A1: Digital maps in standard WAsP vector format may of course be created - digitized - using the Map Editor on basis of map image files, e.g. scanned topographical paper maps. In addition, the WAsP Map Editor supports a number of digital map formats which may be converted by the Map Editor to standard WAsP map format; maps in some grid-formats, however, may in addition need 3rd-party software for the conversion.

Q2: Is it possible to get digital maps from  public or commercial suppliers?

A2: Digital maps are now available from a number of national geodetic or geological mapping agencies, or from private company partners.
