WAsP Engineering 4 - Release Notes

WAsP Suite 2024-A-7

New features
The long-term reference wind data has now been extended to near-global coverage, and this means that the Spectral Correction method for extreme wind calculation now can be applied nearly everywhere in the world.

We implemented this by creating a new server to serve the new dataset, and the update happens when the WAsP Engineering user has downloaded and installed the new version, and then launches a Spectral Correction (SC) method calculation.

WAsP Engineering 4.0 release J

New features and bug fixes

Site corrections for a given height can now be exported to file.
Fixed problem with some REWCs not correctly showing in project tree.
WAsP model version information written to WAT output file.
Domain latitude is taken from vector map if available.
Winds and heights are more reliably renamed after edit.
Modelling factory objects are now fully visible to VBA automation client code.

WAsP Engineering 4.0 Release ”I”.

In the ”Prepare data for WAT”-tool the following improvements have been added:
• In the save-to-file (XML) option now the output path is remembered for next time.
• WAsP12 support for the WAT calculations has been added.
• The 100 year extreme wind speed has been added to the WAT output.

WAsP Engineering Version 4.0.180, Release H

•On-limit upper grid map values are no longer sometimes drawn with flag colour.
• “Out of memory error” not displayed in the wrong context.
• Locations button not shown in EWC souvenir display if not SCM-derived.
• If no map projection is set when requesting new SCM, a prompt appears to set it.

Version 4.0.176 Release F

  • Fixed problems with KML generation for southern hemisphere locations
  • Fixed problems with wind vector illustration in KML output
  • KML generation is now by manual refresh: there is no longer instant sync refresh.

Version 4.00.122 Release E

  • Could close without saving work in very rare cases where network connectivity was lost
  • Locations button in non-SCM climates was causing an error

Version 4.00.0108 Release D

  • Location labels in Google Earth output have been updated
  • Script for turbulence is now fixed
  • In observed wind data time-series for Spectral Correction Extreme wind calculations: Data gaps and bad data are handled handled the same way.
  • Spectrum Correction extreme wind calculation quality check fail will result in a warning, not a refusal.

Version 4.00.0098 Release C

  • Google Earth launch is fixed
  • Actual site location is injected to the GEWC souvenir XML

Version 4.00.0096 Release B

This new release ‘Release B’ of WAsP Engineering fixes an error in the turbulence model, which was giving incorrect results for some sites at heights above 42 metres above ground level.  If you have done calculations for sites like this, they should be re-performed. The turbulence model results are not saved in the project file, but are of course embedded in report outputs and exports to the Windfarm Analysis Tool.

In addition, this new build restores the ability to copy and paste site locations from clipboard, which several people noticed.

Version 4.00.0093 Release A

New Feature:

  • Spectral-correction extreme wind analysis based on local short-term wind time series in combination with a long-term reanalysis wind time series from an internet database.

Improvements:

  • Vastly improved water fetch calculation speed;
  • More efficient use of flow model calculation runs, making calculations much faster;
  • The turbulent length scale is now limited to the IEC Standard value of 42 m;
  • Updated scripts;
  • Updated help file;
  • Bug fixes
