The European Wind Atlas was published by the Wind Energy Department in 1989. It was one of the first atlases of its kind, providing data and methods for wind resource and energy yield assessments all over Europe (EU12). It also describes the background and details of the WAsP software models which were used for the production of the atlas – and which is now considered the industry-standard PC software for predicting the annual energy production from wind turbines and wind farms all over the world.
The Atlas has now been made available for download in PDF format; and the accompanying data as a ZIP archive. Download is free of charge. The book and translations are still available in hard copy and can be ordered from the WAsP web site.
