DTU Wind Energy presents Global Wind Atlas at EWEA 2015

On October 21st the DTU Global Wind Atlas was launched. It provides global datasets describing the wind climate including the effects of high resolution topography. The data is for aggregation analysis for energy integration modelling, energy planners and policy makers.
The methodology is based on generalization of reanalysis data and microscale modelling using WAsP flow models. A calculation was performed every 250 m over land and out to 30 km offshore.
From the Global Wind Atlas website you can find out about the methodology and browse the input datasets, modelled roughness and orographic effects and apply a number of analysis tools.
See the presentation at EWEA, stand L07, November 19th at 14:30

The DTU Global Wind Atlas data and tools are also integrated into IRENA’s Global Atlas of Renewable Energy’s. IRENA’s platform allows the data to be viewed alongside maps of other energy resources and maps of infrastructure and societal parameters.
