On-demand WAsP self-study course

Join the course, if you want to learn more about the WAsP software. We will show you the tips and tricks, needed in order to avoid the most common pitfalls in wind resource assessment.

The purpose of the self-study course is to give you access to the material, when you have the time to study. The entire course will therefore be ready when you log in and you will have full access to the course material for eight weeks.

The WAsP self-study course aims at providing practical experience and confidence in wind data analysis, wind climate estimation and power production calculations using WAsP. The overall course objectives are:

  1. To teach you how to use the WAsP software 
  2. To teach you enough theory to avoid the pitfalls 

There are certain tasks and assignments, which need to be completed to receive the Certificate of Participation at the end of the course, but you can go over the material as many times as you wish. 

The following general topics will be covered during the course:

  • WAsP characteristics and functionality
  • Model operational envelopes and limitations
  • Requirements for climatological and topographical input
  • Best practice and sensitivity analyses
  • Pitfalls, biases and uncertainties

9 modules to study, 1-2 hours/module

You will receive a free WAsP 11 license, which will be valid throughout the eight weeks, giving you access to the software.
