WAsP – the Wind Atlas Analysis and Application Program

The "Dongle Not Recognized" problem

With WAsP 8.3 installations, in some cases the dongle (which has been attached to the computer) is not recognized by WAsP, nor by the Licence Manager. When runnning the licence manager the problem appears in the page "Get the ID code" as the message "No dongle is attached" in the Dongle ID field.

A) In most of the cases, the problem is solved in the latest WAsP version [8.03.0020], so if you are facing the problem in connection with an older version, please download and install the latest one from the WAsP download page and see if that solves the problem.

B) If the problem still persists, the reason is that the licence manager failed to install the so-called dongle device driver, or in updating an existing one to a version that WAsP complies with. The INFO-button beside the Dongle ID field allows you to get details of the dongle driver: the version number or whether no dongle driver is installed at all.

In case B) we recommend to use the following procedure to install/update a proper dongle driver:

ATTENTION: Only use the dongle driver update procedure below if you were referred to this web page by the WAsP support team!

  1. Remove the WAsP-dongle – and all other HASP/Aladdin dongles – from your PC.

  2. Download an update kit from
      http://www.wasp.dk/BetaDownloads/WAsP/2005-07-01RisoeHaspUpdate.zip.

  3. Unzip the archive into a folder on your PC.

  4. From that folder, run the file "HaspUpdater2005-07-01.exe" using Windows Explorer or from the Start menu.

  5. Run the Licence Manager WITHOUT the WAsP-dongle attached. The Licence Manager will go through a HASP-dongle-driver installation procedure; once this procedure has completed, please close to exit from the licence manager.

  6. Atttach the WAsP dongle to your PC.

  7. Then, run the licence manager once more and see if the dongle is recognized. If so, you may continue to enter the "Install a product licence" page to insert user name and unlock code.

Please send us (waspsupport@risoe.dk) a note on how the above procedure worked out.

Good luck!
