WAsP – the Wind Atlas Analysis and Application Program

Coexistence of WAsP 8 and WAsP 7 installations

With WAsP 8 installed, you may also have an operating WAsP 7.3 installation to ensure a smooth transition from version 7 to 8. But it will have to be version 7.3; earlier WAsP versions will conflict with WAsP 8.

However, due to dongle driver considerations, there are a few requirements to be followed when installing the two WAsP versions. These requirements regard the sequence in which you install the two versions: WAsP 7.3 must be installed before installing WAsP 8.3 – otherwise an error will occur during the WAsP 7.3 installation. Consequently, if you want both WAsP 7.3 and a WAsP 8 installed on the same computer, please stick to the following procedure:

Case A: WAsP 7.3 is not installed, but a WAsP 8 version is already installed.

  1. Uninstall the WAsP 8 version
  2. Clear the HASP dongle driver installation. You do that by executing our service program "RveaHaspFix.exe", which is available from the following link: RveaHaspFix.exe. An associated manual may be found here: How to use the RveaHaspFix program. The service program will end by linking to the company Alladin's HASP-dongle driver download page; don't try to download any dongle driver, just close the Internet browser.
  3. Move on to point 5

Case B: WAsP 8 is not installed, but a WAsP installation earlier than version 7.3 is installed.

  1. Uninstall the any WAsP version earlier than 7.3
  2. Install WAsP 7.3 – use the installation package from the Previous Installations page

Case C: WAsP 7.3 is installed, but WAsP 8 is not installed.

  1. Install the latest WAsP 8 version, from your installation CD from the Download page.

Note: For licencing purposes, WAsP uses so-called HASP dongles from the company Aladdin (www.aladdin.com)
