WAsP – the Wind Atlas Analysis and Application Program

Digital maps

WAsP uses digital maps to get information on terrain features: elevation and surface roughness (water / farm land / forests / built-up areas).

A number of vector map formats may be used:

The WAsP Map Editor is a special utility program, included in the WAsP package, with which one may create, read, edit and type-convert digital maps. Through a configurable import facility the Map Editor is also able to import a number of other vector map types and to convert them to the standard WAsP map format.

Maps in raster or grid format are presently not supported by WAsP, but may be converted to contour/vector format, e.g. by the Surfer program (by Golden Software).
