The Turbine Editor available here supports the well-known WAsP *.pow format (reading/writing), the old Park *.trb format (only reading) and also the new WAsP *.wtg format (XML-based). The Turbine Editor lets you modify an existing turbine power curve file or create a new one from scratch. Copy-and-paste editing may be used to enter power- and thrust-curve tables from tabulated data in a spreadsheet or text document (e.g. Excel or Word). Multiple performance tables – e.g. containing tables for each of a number of air densities and/or noise levels – are supported.

Getting power and thrust curves

The intention of the turbine editor is to allow wind turbine manufacturers and WAsP users to create turbine performance curve files ("power- and thrust curves") which comply strictly with the WAsP format. Please note, that with the release of WAsP 8, it became necessary to use dual power curves, i.e. containing the power curve as well as the thrust curve.

In the future, we hope to be able to upload new and updated wind turbine generator performance files (*.pow and *.wtg files) here – submitted by the wind turbine manufacturers. Hopefully, turbine performance curves from all manufacturers – from all over the world – will be available from this page.

If and when you need a site-specific power and thrust curve for your WAsP project which is not available from one of the above listed pages, you should contact the manufacturer of the wind turbine in question directly.
