WAsP 8.1

This page describes the first update to WAsP 8.1, WAsP 8.01.0069, the bug fixes and other changes made. Any previous version of WAsP 8.0 must be updated using the full installation.

New features and improvements in this update

• There's now a tidy way to import user corrections (UCF) files from version 6 and 7. This is a new item under the 'Tools' / 'Import from WAsP version 7' menu.
• A new script is available which exports turbine site results in the old 'RSF' file format.

Problems fixed in this update

Only the bugs which might have affected all end-users are included in this list. Some issues only affected test users, and some issues are one-machine-only type of anomalies. The issues are numbered for our reference.

Resource grid prepare-for-export malfunctioning

Issue #602: If you check the 'prepare for export', another related setting is automatically checked in the GUI. Unfortunately, this second, automatic setting is not effected, making for some unnecessary re-calculation work.

WAsP fails to start if bad path in registry recent files

Issue #604: If you have a short or bad path in the recent files list stored in the registry, the application will not start. A manual registry edit is required.

Resouce grid display problems – palettes

Issue #609: Palette scaling settings not correctly saved and restored, making for an overflow error in some cases.

Script for exporting turbine site data in *.rsf format

Issue #622: Some users have requested a simple ASCII format output containing the prediction results for a turbine site.

Provide facility for importing UCF file contents to WAsP 8

Issue #627: UCF files as produced in WAsP 7 cannot be imported to WAsP 8.

Imported workspaces from v7 do not handle UCF correctly

Issue #628: If you import a workspace, project or site from version 7, and the sites have user corrections, it seems that the values are not correctly interpreted by the importer.

Spatial view problem in hand-drag mode

Issue #631: If you try to navigate a spatial view in hand-drag mode, then you suddenly start zooming instead of panning and an error arises.

Unhelpful error message if Scrrun.dll not registered/corrupted

Issue #640: If the required dependency Scrrun.dll cannot start, WAsP shows an unhelpful message about not being able to generate a short filename.

Bad list of recent workspaces shows as a startup error

Issue #626: WAsP shows a startup error and refuses to start if the list of recent workpsaces is somehow corrupted.

Error in 'import palette dialog'

Issue #657: If you start trying to select a palette (right click and select import in palette display) and exit by pressing cancel you'll get an error.

Resource grids should use sum-of-sectors productions

Issue #658: Resource grid AEP productions for all sectors are not using the sum-of-sector calculation as used by sites and wind farms, but the previous calculation approach as used in WASP 7.

Max. number of roughness changes cannot be set to 10 or 0

Issue #525: You can edit the project configuration to use 10 or 0 roughness change lines, but the change will not be properly effected and the GUI will not be able to display this correctly.
