WAsP – the Wind Atlas Analysis and Application Program |
In addition to the bugs fixed by Patch A, Patch B, Patch C and Patch D, this patch contains the following changes and fixes the following bugs. Any previous version of WAsP 8.0 must be updated using the full installation.
When editing an obstacle's location, the first and second angles can now be edited together, so any values can be entered naturally without encountering irritating restrictions when moving from one to the other.
The OWC wizard no longer allows OWCs with a non-zero centre angle for the first sector. If you try to open such a file in the main GUI program, then a helpful message appears rather than an error.
The GUI has been changed to make the 'save project separately' workspace feature easier to understand. The menu item has been renamed "Maintain the project as a separate file". You no longer need to save the project file immediately.
If the program detects that a previously-imported source file has changed, then you can choose to do a refresh/re-import automatically.
The information displayed when the menu item "WAsP on this computer" is invoked now includes something about the OS and IE versions.
If you use the menu item "Help.. Email technical support", an email message is opened and is automatically filled with some standard technical support information. On Windows 98 machines, this information is truncated. If you use an email client program other than MS Outlook, this feature may not work correctly.
The dialog which appears when closing a workspace with unsaved changes has been slightly re-organised to make it more coherent.
If you try to open a POW file with no thrust curve, a message is displayed instead of a full error report.
When adding sites to a wind farm by opening a text file of locations, the file can now use commas and semi-colons as separators.
If you add a new wind farm and then import some sites from a text file, an error may arise when viewing the site list.
On slower computers, the data table display may appear to flicker noticably while the contents are refreshed.
If a turbine site's results become due for recalculation, the summay data in the window caption switch to displaying mean speed prediction data, rather than the AEP summary.
If one instance of WAsP is running a resource grid calculation or a lengthy wind farm calculation, then a second instance of WAsP cannot be started in the background.
If the wind farm window is open, and you try to remove a member turbine site, then a non-critial error arises.
If you rename a site in the hierarchy tree, the wind farm window site list is not updated to reflect the change.
If a resource grid is in a context with more than 12 sectors, and the rix calculations are invoked, then an error arise.
WAsP can work with wind atlases with any number of sectors, but will sometimes fail when reading in *.lib files with more than 12 sectors. Lib files created with version 7 will be accepted alright, but if they are generated in version 8, saved (exported) in LIB format and then re-opened from file, the problem arises.
If a wake calculation is cancelled, then re-started and then cancelled again before completion, an error arises.
