How to use the RveaHaspFix program

Context

This document is written for end-users of the WAsP Map Editor 7.2.1.115 and WAsP 7.3 who have been recommended to use the  RveaHaspFix program to get around an installation/removal problem.

The problem you encountered

This document is made available to you along with the RveaHaspFix program because you've seen an installer errors while either-

In either case, you've been presented with a Windows Installer  error message with code 1722 or 2744, and have been unable to proceed.

What's wrong?

The problem is related to the device drivers needed by the Risoe licencing dongle. The drivers are called HASP drivers. The installed drivers have been updated since the WAsP 7.3 or Map Editor was installed, and now the installation is confused and cannot work properly when trying to un-install or repair.

What to do, and what will happen

First, use the program to remove the HASP drivers.

Next, do the WAsP 7.3 or WAsP Map Editor operation

Finally, download and install the latest HASP drivers

Does it have to be so complicated?

No.

If you just want to un-install the program and don't care so much about doing it really cleanly, then you can download a program from Microsoft called the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility.

Install this utility and use this to 'clean up' any reference to the program. There are a couple of files left installed on your machine, but they don't take up much room. If you don't have any WAsP products installed, then you can manually delete the whole folder "\program files\wasp".

Now what?

Please note that you will probably not be able to re-install WAsP 7.3 or this version of the Map Editor again. If you need to do that, then please contact us (waspsupport@risoe.dk) for advice.
